UPDATE: Police arrest woman in connection with Wednesday morning death investigation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA 21) -

UPDATE: Police arrested a woman after an investigation into the apparent stabbing death of a Fort Wayne man.

The Fort Wayne Police Department said Kathleen Gale Theroit, 49 of Fort Wayne was arrested Wednesday afternoon. She was preliminarily charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery.


Police launched a death investigation after a man was found with apparent stab wounds early Wednesday morning.

The Fort Wayne Police Department said officers were called to the 4900 block of Northcrest Drive around 3:33 Wednesday morning on a call of a stabbing. When police arrived, they found a man inside an apartment suffering from an apparent stab wound or wounds to the abdomen.  He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by a physician.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was inside the apartment when the stabbing occurred.  As of Wednesday morning, detectives were interviewing potential witnesses that were inside the apartment building. 

As of the time of this report, the incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
