One dead after crash near Warsaw early Friday morning

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WTPA21) -

One person is dead after a vehicle rolled over and hit a tree off Packerton Road.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department said the crash happened around 2:49 on Packerton Road near 400 South. An initial investigation indicates a 2007 Chevy Impala was traveling northbound on Packerton Road when the driver lost control for some reason.

The vehicle exited the western edge of the roadway into an embankment. The vehicle rolled over several times before hitting a tree. The department said a man was found unresponsive in the vehicle. He was identified as Timothy Riley, 27 of Claypool. Riley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner's Office.

As of the time of this report, the crash remains under investigation. The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Washington Township Fire Department, Warsaw Fire Department, Lutheran E.M.S., Warsaw Police Department, the Winona Lake Police Department, the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
