Thursday evening's storms destroyed buildings and knocked out power to thousands. Friday, the cleanup effort began.
During the storm, 81 power poles were knocked down. An AEP substation was also hit. This caused Paulding Putnam Electric and AEP customers to lose power. It also caused damage to several buildings, including 8-10 farms.
A state of emergency was declared for the county due to the storm damage. Wayne Trace Jr/Sr High School was closed because the villages of Scott, Haviland and Grover Hill were without power.
The National Weather Service sent a survey team to the area to determine if the damage was caused by straight-line winds or a small tornado. In a report Friday, the NWS determined the damage was due to straight-line winds.
