One man has been killed in a reported shooting just after midnight Friday near downtown Fort Wayne.
The Fort Wayne Police Department said the shooting happened in the 900 block of Francis Street. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered a man laying on the ground next to the intersection of Francis Street and E. Washington Boulevard.
The man appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds. While the man was initially found to be in critical condition, he was later pronounced dead by paramedics while still at the scene.
As of 2 a.m. Friday, detectives were going door to door searching for anyone who witnessed the shooting. A K9 unit was also deployed to attempt to find anyone who fled the scene. Police hope nearby businesses have video surveillance.
Police have no suspects so far. As of the time of this report, the shooting remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor's Office and the Allen County Coroner's Office.
