FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - A groundbreaking on Friday marks the start of a project to connect IPFW and Ivy Tech Community College Northeast by a new pedestrian bridge.
The $4.5 million structure will span one of the busiest roads in the city to link the campuses.
Construction is set to begin eight years after the idea was first proposed. The bridge is expected to be completed by June 2018.
The nearly 3,700-foot span will be paid for largely by INDOT funds, though both schools will also pick up part of the cost.
