Only the Central Noble Cougars in 2A remain standing in the Indiana girls basketball postseason. Sydney Freeman and Meleah Leatherman combined to lead the Lady Cougars to the 2A Winamac Regional, first with a 47-35 win over Bluffton in the semifinals and then 48-36 over Hammond Noll in the final. Onye Ezeakudo scored eleven points as Summit Athletic Conference leading Homestead took a 47-41 decision at Concordia Friday night, leaving the Spartans at 8-0, one game ahead of second place Carroll.

Woodlan gets big football week rolling

Woodlan football's first trip to state since 1981 and only the second all time began on Monday with a trip to Indianapolis for head coach Sherwood Haydock to get briefed on the week from the IHSAA. The Warriors will practice on the turf at Homestead Tuesday night, then go to Indianapolis Wednesday for an hour practice at Lucas Oil Stadium.
